On May 28, 2011, Sarah and Sasha were married in Toronto and celebrated with a reception at the Liberty Grand.
(WedLuxe) Describe your proposal:
Sarah: "Knowing how much I love parties, luxury hotels and spas, Sasha [secretly] coordinated a celebratory private party at Marben, our dear friend Simon’s restaurant and lounge, a two night stay in a luxurious suite at the Park Hyatt with a couples massage at Still Water Spa – all in the span of 24 hours.
On December 19th, 2009, I woke up with my blackberry in hand firing off messages to book coffee dates with my girlfriends, connect with family and spend the afternoon with my boyfriend, but I seemed to get the cold shoulder from everyone, most of all Sasha. We had plans that night to go to the theater with best friends and even they were acting strange. After the show I insisted we all grab a drink together, but they uncharacteristically declined. By that point I was feeling rejected and still a little confused. To cheer me up Sasha suggested the two us have a drink at the rooftop bar of the Hyatt. When we got to the hotel we rode the elevator up to a guest floor and my suspicion started to grow as I wondered who we were there to see. With sweaty palms he opened the hotel room door to reveal a room filled with pink and white roses. He got down on one knee and asked me if I would be willing to spend the rest of my life with him. I was so excited I was bouncing off the walls. When I finally calmed down I gave him a big hug and I could hear him breathe a sigh of relief. We celebrated the night away with our close friends and family at Marben, where we had our first date four years prior."
How would you describe your wedding day?
"Magical, Classy, High Energy, Fun and Unique. Our wedding combined class and elegance, a sprinkle of culture and felt as though we were all transported to a magical place where we all had fun, put on our dancing shoes and shared special moments until the clock struck 1:30 a.m."
How did you personalize your wedding day?
"We were able to incorporate cultural elements such as a belly dancing trio and cultural dances throughout the evening, which really brought our two families together and created a great energy that lasted all night long."
What was the most luxurious aspect of your wedding?
"Liberty Grand was the most luxurious aspect of our wedding. The Governors room is a very grand room with a mezzanine, dramatic chandeliers, 40 foot vaulted ceilings. The award-winning chef and pastry chef prepared a meal on par with the meals we’ve had at the best restaurants in the world. The service they provided throughout the process made us feel like a king and queen. Truly a first class and luxurious experience."
What was your favourite moment on the wedding day?
"Our favourite moment was the time we had together taking pictures in the Distillery District with Alex (of lifeimages.). The feeling and excitement of just getting married finally sunk in and we stole a few minutes together and are so grateful that we had a photographer who was able to capture the emotion and excitement of the moment. He gave it 110% from the moment he showed up in the morning until 11 p.m., he was very professional and presented us with hundreds of pictures that took our breath away."
What is the most important info you think readers should know about your wedding day?
"Special thanks goes out to our wedding planner Gabrielle DeMelo from Casamentos Haute Couture Weddings and our wonderful vendors. Our wedding day went off without a hitch and we felt like the honourary guests on our wedding day and not event planners."
