~ rustic elegance ~ Kassie and James were married on July 7, 2010 in Vancouver, BC. The pair chose a “Rustic Elegance” themed wedding to celebrate the fact that Kassie had grown up on a farm and James was raised in the city. “Our theme was us to a tee,” remembers Kassie. The ceremony took place at Hycroft in the early afternoon. The decor was mostly white with a hint of pink, set against the lush green backdrop of the gardens. Mason jars filled with white hydrangea blooms were hung with dove grey, satin ribbon on the chairs lining the aisle. ~ inspired by nature ~ Florist Rosalba Fasan-Buffat of Rose’s Flowers and Gifts created all of the beautiful and lush floral that was seen throughout the day, starting with Kassie’s bouquet. “I had Rosalba attach a glass locket to my bridal bouquet. Inside the locket was an old, borrowed four-leaf clover which my mom gave to James years ago,” remembers Kassie. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests headed to The Hart House Restaurant, for the reception. Event Planner Nancy Antolcic was on hand to help co-ordinate the day. The couple had a custom monogram created by Jessico Boffo of Kardz Kouture which featured an illustration of a rustic tree. The illustration was the jumping-off point for many of the design details seen throughout the ceremony and reception. Together, DeLovely Creative and Rose's Flowers and Gifts transformed a white tent into a whimsical and rustic reception area. The highlight of the tent was a large tree covered in lights and crystals which was inspired by the monogram. During the cocktail hour, guests were treated to a custom cocktail—the “Blushing Bride Martini.” DeLovely Creative designed the white wood-panelled martini bar especially for Kassie and James. Four tree-trunk ‘seats’ covered in white cushions sat alongside white loveseats for a relaxed and comfortable rustic seating area. A crystal chandelier sparkled from above. ~ evening glow ~ To add to the rustic ambience, there were several wood and moss details added to the decor. Glass candleholders and mirrored frames brought in elements of elegance. The head table featured floral arrangements placed in logs, while each guest table was topped with tall vases filled with mounds of white hydrangeas. “They looked like clusters of white butterflies,” recalls Kassie. Sparklers tied with monogrammed matches were displayed in a wood base on a bed of moss. The sparklers were then lit and held by guests during the couple’s first dance. ~ sweet treats ~ A pink and grey candy bar was on hand for guests to enjoy, along with take-home gifts consisting of tasty pink meringue favors packaged in mason jars (complete with the signature monogram label). |
