Guests were ushered into the dinner reception area, which was draped in crushed white velvet. At the center of each table sat magnificent floral candelabras by Granville Island Florist. “The room was grand, impressive, yet intimate,” remembers Anne.
A delicious Venetian-inspired menu was served to the guests. The menu included tomato and mozzarella salad, sablefish ravioli, grenadine sorbet, braised veal, lemon halibut and tiramisu. Opera singer Melissa Howell performed during dinner. After dinner, Anne and Markus took to the floor for their first dance, serenaded by Rob Hamilton and Rebecca Shoichet who sang, “The Way You Look Tonight.” The party continued into the wee hours of the morning as guests danced the night away with more musical entertainment by DJ Ibata. “We wanted festive, spectacular, entertaining, visually stimulating, and fun! We wanted our friends to feel spoiled and entertained. We wanted the party of the year!” remembers Anne. The goal was achieved in spades.
The couple now reside in Vancouver, where they continue to bring other couples together to prove the theory that although there may be “plenty of fish” it’s truly magical when you fall “hook, line and sinker.”

This beautiful wedding photographed by Jana Vackova can be seen in our current Western Canada edition of WedLuxe. Sandy proposed to Rebecca at the top of George Hill on Pender Island overlooking the beautiful Gulf Islands. It’s also home to the bride’s parents cabin. The couple were married on the island on July 4th, 2009. Soha Lavin of CountDown Events helped the couple to create their “french country meets west coast” wedding. |
